Protecting customer privacy: mtc touch awarded ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management System
First telecom operator in Lebanon to attain such accreditation

Beirut, 23 May 2011: mtc touch, the leading mobile telecommunication operator in Lebanon and Zain affiliate, was recently awarded the ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management System – ISMS, after a rigorous examination by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) international, the latter being an independent certification body specialized in auditing corporate business and security systems. The ISO 27001 standard is the most popular and highest security standard used worldwide to assess security control.


mtc touch scores yet another local achievement by being the first telecommunication company in Lebanon to receive an ISO 27001 certification; this comes as further proof of its commitment to provide the highest levels of security and assurance to customers and third parties through a well-controlled environment.

“This certification serves as an additional differentiator to mtc touch in the market place demonstrating its continuous efforts to protect its customers’ data in alignment with international standards and best practices”, commented Ms Hayat Youssef, Director of Risk Management and Business Excellence. Ms Youssef explained that “mtc touch will always follow and apply any scientific and technical development in the field of information security, to reduce and manage - to the furthest extent possible - any information breach, under any possible circumstance”.

Ms. Youssef detailed the major standards of ISO 27001 such as examining an organization's information security risks, considering all threats, vulnerabilities and impacts. It also covers all aspects of implementing and operating an Information Security Management System. This includes everything from designing and carrying out effective controls, to verifying that management processes will meet the firm's ongoing information security needs.
