RaMSiS Summer School Sponsorship

Event organized by Notre Dame University (NDU) and the RaMSIS group of the ICT School at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm

 
Beirut, 13 July 2010: In line with its support for education and youth activities, mtc touch, the leading Lebanese mobile network provider and ZAIN Group affiliate, sponsored the 6th RaMSiS Summer School under the theme of “Next Generation Mobile Communications: Chipset Design and Applications”.
 
The event, which was held at the Notre Dame University (NDU) campus between July 12th and 14th, 2010, was jointly organized by NDU’s Faculty of Engineering and the RaMSiS (Radio and Mixed Signal Integrated Systems) Group at the ICT School of Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
 
“The event is held every year in a different country with a different theme and different speakers,” said Dr Jad Atallah, NDU Assistant Professor and the event’s official spokesperson. “It includes lectures given by internationally-renowned experts in the fields of wireless semiconductors and wireless communication systems from Canada, Germany, Lebanon, Sweden and the USA.”
 
Dr Atallah added that the objective was to promote research in mobile communications, infrastructure and applications by bringing together industry and academia. “We are trying to address the challenges facing the next generation of mobile technology: from finding new applications for infrastructure to exploring high-performance and cost effective techniques to implement it.”
 
Ghada Barakat, Corporate Communication and Relations Manager, at mtc touch, said that the company had identified “a unique and important opportunity to bring together international experts, university students, researchers and sector professionals to exchange ideas and expertise.” She added that mtc touch’s endorsement of such a pioneering forum demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting academic excellence through dialogue and research.
